What moves an estimate up or down

Three things decide most moving estimates: how much you have, how far it's going, and how hard it is to get in and out. More belongings mean more hours or a second truck, and each extra mover or truck is $50 an hour. Stairs, elevators, long carries, extra stops, and heavy or delicate pieces like pianos and safes all add time. Having us pack adds labor and materials; packing yourself takes them away. Drive time counts as well: the clock starts when the crew leaves our location and the drive back is billed, with GPS measuring both legs. Our guide to moving costs in New Braunfels, in the resources section, goes through each of these in detail.

How to get the most accurate number

Show us your home. We'll text you a LiveSwitch link, with no app to download, and you can walk us through live or record it when it's convenient. Open the closets, garage, attic, and shed, point out anything heavy or fragile, and tell us about stairs, elevators, and parking at both addresses. The walkthrough gives us an inventory of what's moving, and you get a written summary along with your estimate, so we're both working from the same list.

FAQ

Do you charge by the hour or a flat rate?

Local moves, labor-only help, and packing are hourly. Our base local rate is $235 an hour for three movers and a 26-foot truck within about 30 miles of New Braunfels. Out-of-town and out-of-state moves are always a flat rate based on mileage, crew size, and trucks.

Is there a minimum charge?

Labor-only help and packing carry a three-hour minimum. Your estimate will state any minimum that applies to your move, the rate, and the crew size, so there's nothing to guess at.

What do I need to book?

A signed estimate, agreement to our company policy, and a $100 non-refundable deposit. Once we have the signature and deposit, your date is booked. Estimates are emailed and texted to you, usually the same day.

Are estimates free?

Yes. Estimates are free and there's no obligation. You can request one by phone, through our online request form, or with a video walkthrough.

What could change my price after the estimate?

Changes to the job itself: more belongings than we saw, added stops, added packing, or access that's different from what was described. If something changes before move day, tell us and we'll update the estimate. We don't add hidden fees.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We offer military and senior discounts, and our senior-community move rate of $175 an hour is our lowest. Ask about them when you request your estimate.

Do you charge for drive time?

Yes. The clock starts when the crew leaves our location, and the drive back to our location is billed too. GPS measures both legs: the crew logs when they leave and when they finish, and GPS calculates the time each way. Our policies page explains it in full.

What happens if something is damaged?

Every move includes the minimum coverage of 60 cents per pound that federal law requires of licensed movers, and you can add a Full Value Replacement plan with a $250 deductible and limits from $2,500 to $10,000. We repair damaged items to their condition before the move, or offer cash value or replacement at current depreciated value when repair isn't feasible. Details and prices are on our policies page.
