Piano, safe, and antique moving

Every house has one or two things that make the owner nervous. The piano. Grandpa's safe. The antique hutch that's been in the family for four generations. Those are the pieces we want to hear about first.

What we handle

Do we move pianos, safes, and antiques? Absolutely. Our crew is trained to move delicate, heavy, and oversized pieces with care, on local moves and long-distance ones, and careful handling of fragile and specialty items is one of the reasons customers come back to us.

The one thing we ask is advance notice. Just let us know about these pieces when you request your estimate.

Why advance notice matters

A heavy or fragile item changes the plan. It can mean an extra mover or two, specific equipment, more padding, more time, and a different order for loading the truck. If we know before move day, all of that is simply part of the job. If we find out when we walk in, the crew may not have what it needs to move the piece safely.

A tape measure helps here. As general guidance, measure the piece and then measure the narrowest doorway, hallway, or stair turn it has to pass through, at both homes. If it only just came in when you bought it, it will only just go out, and that's worth knowing before move day.

So tell us what the item is, roughly how big and heavy it is, where it sits in the house, and what stands between it and the truck: stairs, tight turns, thresholds, or a long carry across the yard.

Show it to us on video

This is where our video estimates pay off. We text you a link, and you can show us the piece itself and then walk the route it will take out of the house. We can see the staircase, the landing, and the door it has to clear, and plan the crew around it.

If you know where it's going in the new home, show us or tell us about that too. A piano going into a ground-floor living room is one job. The same piano going up to a second-floor loft is another.

Delicate and high-value pieces

For antiques, artwork, mirrors, glass tabletops, china, and electronics, protection starts with packing. Our packing service covers careful wrapping of glassware, art, dishes, and electronics, and fragile-only packing is available if those are the only things you'd like us to handle. Furniture wrapping and disassembly are available when a piece needs more than a blanket.

As general guidance, it's wise to photograph valuable pieces before any move and note existing wear. Ask us how high-value items are handled and protected when you get your estimate.

How specialty items affect your price

Heavy and delicate items add to a moving estimate because they take more people, more time, and more materials. Safes are priced on their own: a safe over 500 pounds starts at $625, plus $1.25 for every pound over 500. Pianos and antiques are quoted with your move, and on an hourly job they show up as crew size and hours.

Either way, you'll see it on the estimate before you book, with no hidden fees. Need just the one item moved, within your home or across town? Call us and we'll tell you what we can do.

FAQ

Do you move pianos?

Yes. We handle pianos along with other delicate and heavy items. Let us know in advance, and show it on your video walkthrough if you can, so we can plan the crew and equipment.

Can you move a safe?

Yes. Safes over 500 pounds start at $625, plus $1.25 for every pound over 500. Tell us the approximate weight, where it sits, and whether stairs are involved, so we send the right crew.

How are antiques protected?

Furniture is padded and wrapped before it moves. For china, mirrors, heirlooms, and other breakables, our fragile-only packing service wraps and boxes each piece with proper materials.

The three questions we ask on every move

Safe

Your belongings, your home, and our crew all finish the day in one piece. Furniture is padded and wrapped before it moves, and nobody rushes a heavy piece down a staircase.

Efficient

Everything is worked out before we arrive, so when the truck pulls up we can just get to work. Moving day shouldn't be the day the planning happens.

Courteous

Our crew puts themselves in your shoes. Polite, in uniform, and thinking ahead for you on one of the more stressful days of your life.

Got a piece you're nervous about?

Tell us what it is and where it sits. We'll plan the crew, the equipment, and the route before move day.
